Brampton Man Arrested For Breaking and Entering Lansdowne Place After Hours and Brandishing a Tire Jack Handle On Security

A 26-year-old Brampton man is facing multiple charges including breaking and entering Lansdowne Place on Monday evening.

At roughly 8 p.m., Officers learned that a man had re-entered the mall despite being told to leave since it was closed. He was caught attempting to take items from a kiosk and when confronted, the suspect brandished a metal tire jack handle at security and fled.

Officers located a man matching the description given to police a short distance away and took him into custody.  The tire jack handle was seized during a search after arrest. No one was injured during the incident. During the investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted on a Canada Wide Immigration Warrant.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today on Tuesday.

Peterborough Police Seeking Robbery Suspect Who Made Off With a Tray of Lottery Tickets From Convenience Store

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service are looking for a robbery suspect who targeted a convenience store early Sunday morning.

At roughly 3:30 a.m., a Denure Drive and Sherbrooke Street business saw a man enter the store and brandish a small knife. The suspect left with a tray of lottery tickets.

Officers searched the area south of the store, located the tray with some of the tickets, and returned them to the business. The suspect's mask was also located; however, the suspect could not be found. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as:

  • White male

  • Approximately 50 years old

  • 5’6; medium build

  • Dressed in a black sweater with a piece of green tape on the left chest, a dark coloured toque with a dust style filter mask over his face, dark pants and grey boots with a green piece of tape on the left toe area

Peterborough Police have released video footage of the suspect.

Peterborough Man Arrested On Several Drug Trafficking Charges

A 45-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant is facing multiple drug trafficking charges after a search during an arrest that occurred on Thursday.

At roughly 4 p.m., Community FIRST Unit officers spotted a man wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with probation. The suspect attempted to run but police caught up and took him into custody. 

During a search after arrest, officers seized:

  • 48.3 grams - Fentanyl

  • 10.9 grams – Crystal Methamphetamine

  • 34.8 grams - Cocaine

  • 86.7 grams – Unknown Substance

  • Cell phone, scale, small bags and tin foil

  • Canadian currency

The man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (Fentanyl)

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Friday.

Peterborough Woman Arrested For Stealing From Downtown Business and Punching An Employee

A 29-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges including theft and assault after an incident at a downtown business on Wednesday.

At roughly 3:30 p.m., a disturbance occurred at a George Street and Murray Street area business. A woman had entered the business, taken items from the store including from a customer and punched an employee when asked to leave. The suspect left the scene after the hit.

Officers located a woman matching the description given to police across the street and took her into custody.

She was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault

  • Theft Under $5,000

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

She is being held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday.

Second Automobile Recovered From Three-Vehicle Theft On March 26

A second stolen automobile has been recovered after a theft involving three vehicles occurred on March 26.

The recovery occurred on Sunday as Peel Regional Police officers found the missing 2022 Corolla taken from a Park Street South residence. The suspect has not been located.

The Land Cruiser taken the same night has also not been located. The 2024 Tundra has already been recovered.

Driver Caught Going 103 km/h In 50 Zone; Fourth Consecutive Day Police Issue Stunt Driving Charge

A 20-year-old driver faces a stunt driving charge going 103 km/h in a 50 zone in Peterborough on Thursday morning.

At roughly 11:40 a.m., a Traffic Unit officer on general patrol spotted the speeding vehicle in the Water Street and Marina Boulevard area. They were recorded going 103 km/h in a 50 zone. 

The driver was charged with:

  • Stunt in excess of 40 km/h

  • Speeding 103km/h in a 50 km/h

The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Police Investigate Three Cases of Vehicles Stolen From Neighborhoods

The Peterborough Police Service are investigating three vehicles reported stolen during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

All three vehicles were Toyota models—a 2022 Corolla, a 2024 Land Cruiser and a 2024 Tundra. Two vehicles were taken from neighbourhoods in Peterborough’s west end (Woodglade Blvd and Kawartha Heights Blvd; Sandalwood Drive and Fair Avenue) and the third was taken from a residence on Park Street South. 

In the case of the Land Cruiser and the Tundra, the sunroof feature was smashed, and personal items along with the vehicle’s GPS were found several kilometres from where the vehicle was taken. A black sedan is involved in both cases.

The Tundra was tracked and recovered and police in Quebec arrested an 18-year-old from Saint-Sophie, Que. 

The Land Cruiser was not recovered but was last seen heading toward Highway 7. 

The Corolla was last known to be travelling on the 115. 

In the video footage, a black sedan is seen near the Tundra truck at approximately 1:46 a.m. before driving away. Two minutes later, Sedan returns and two people get out of the vehicle. They can be seen moving around the vehicle before returning to the sedan and driving away. Four minutes later, they come back and one person is seen on the roof of the vehicle and another moving around on the ground before leaving the area again. Three minutes later, they return again where one person enters the truck, starts it and then both the truck and sedan leave the area.

At roughly 8:50 p.m., a Traffic Unit officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle travelling 109km/h in a 50 zone, in the Water Street and Marina Boulevard area.

The driver was charged with:

  • Stunt in excess of 40km/hr

  • Speeding 109km/h in a 50km/h

The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

At roughly 7:30 a.m., a Traffic Unit officer on general patrol recorded a vehicle going 99 in a 50 km/h zone in the area of Lily Lake Road and Ackison Road.

The driver was charged with:

  • Stunt in excess of 40 km/h

The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Teenaged Charged With Stunt Driving Going Almost 100 Km/h In a 50 Zone

A 19-year-old driver is facing a stunt driving charge after reportedly going 98 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in Peterborough on Monday afternoon.

At roughly 1 p.m., a Traffic Unit officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the Water Street and Carnegie Avenue area. The radar gun showed the vehicle was going 98 in a 50km/h zone. 

As a result, the driver was charged with:

  • Stunt in excess of 40 km/h

  • Speeding 98 km/h in a 50 km/h

The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
