Peterborough Man Charged For Breaching Probation After Being Found In a Parking Garage

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge of breaching probation after being discovered by Police on Wednesday night.

At roughly 9:50 p.m., Community FIRST Unit officers were conducting a proactive patrol of a parking garage in the area of Charlotte Street and Simcoe Street. They located the man in a stairwell, determined he was on a probation order not to be in the area and took him into custody. 

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday.

Peterborough Man Arrested After Allegedly Committing Indecent Act in Jackson Park

A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident at Jackson Park on Tuesday afternoon.

At roughly 12:45 p.m., officers were called about a man committing an indecent act in Jackson Park.  

The man had left the park and went to the Hunter Street West and Reid Street area. Police located a man matching the description and took him into custody.

He was arrested and charged with:

  • Indecent Act - public place

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

  • Fail to Comply with Prohibition Regarding Children

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and not attend Jackson Park. He is also bound by a prohibition order not to attend public parks, daycares or community centres where children could reasonably be expected to be.

The accused was held in custody, appeared in court today on Wednesday and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday.

Durham Man Arrested After String of Thefts Beginning From Late October

A 29-year-old Durham Region man has been arrested and faces multiple charges concerning several thefts over the past several months on Tuesday.

At roughly 8 p.m. on Tues, officers with the Community FIRST Unit were called to the Home Depot at Lansdowne Street and Park Street about a theft.

Officers located a man in the parking lot who matched the description given to the police and took him into custody. An investigation determined that the suspect was also connected to six other theft incidents at Peterborough businesses between Oct. 28 and Monday.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000 x7

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Peterborough Man Wanted On Warrants Arrested After Using a Stick to Get Into Parking Meters

A 27-year-old Peterborough man wanted on two warrants was arrested Monday afternoon.

At roughly 3:40 p.m., general patrol officers in the Charlotte Street and George Street area spotted a man attempting to get into a parking meter with a stick.  When they approached him, they realized he was wanted on warrants for assault and theft under $5,000 as well as failing to comply with an appearance notice. 

The 27-year-old Peterborough man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants.  He is being held in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.

Two Teenagers Arrested and Charged After Carjacking Incident On New Year's Day

Two teenagers are facing charges after a carjacking incident on New Year’s Day.

At roughly 8 p.m., two teenagers approached a vehicle in the area of Wolfe Street and Park Place pulled a woman from her vehicle and punched her in the face and fled with the vehicle.  It was found following day in the Stewart Street and Rink Street area.  Officers with Investigative Services located and took two teens into custody on Friday.

A 13-year-old Peterborough male was charged with:

  • Motor Vehicle Theft with Violence Used

  • Fail to Comply with Sentence x2

A 14-year-old Oshawa female was charged with:

  • Motor Vehicle Theft with Violence Used

  • Fail to Comply with Sentence x2

Both accused ware held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday.

Peterborough Man Arrested and Charged After Allegedly Slapping, Choking and Harassing a Woman

A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a series of incidents involving a woman known to him on Wednesday.

During the investigation, officers learned that a woman known to the suspect had been slapped and choked and then received unwanted communications.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke x2

  • Assault

  • Criminal Harassment – repeatedly communicate

The accused is held in custody and will appear in court on Thursday.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this incident of intimate partner violence, the name of the accused is not being released.

Peterborough Woman Arrested On Theft Charges After Allegedly Stealing From Downtown Business In Back-to-Back Days

A 37-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.

At roughly 7:30 p.m., received a call about a theme. They learned that a female had already left the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street store.

Officers searched the area and shortly after, located a woman who matched the description given to the police. During a search after the arrest, officers located a package not in the suspect’s name. Police learned that about $1,500 in items had been taken from the store on Monday and Tuesday.

The woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 X2

  • Failure to comply with probation X2

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Trent University Instructor Arrested and Charged With Sexual Assault On Student

47-year-old Kingston man Abdalla Mansur has been charged with sexual assault after an incident in Peterborough last Tuesday afternoon.

At roughly 7:50 p.m. last Tuesday, officers learned that the incident that had happened earlier in the afternoon involving a part-time course instructor at Trent University in the Mathematics Department and a student. 

The incident happened when the student asked for extra help for exam perperation. The actions occurred during a meeting off campus at a local business at the request of the part-time course instructor. The incident involved non-consensual touching.

An investigation followed on Friday where Mansur was arrested in Kingston and brought back to Peterborough.

He appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday.

Trent University has been made aware of the situation and is cooperating with the police.

Curve Lake Women Charged On Drug Possession and Violating Probation After Traffic Stop

A 30-year-old Curve Lake woman is facing several charges after a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

At roughly 4:45 a.m., general patrol officers conducted a traffic stop and learned that a female passenger was not supposed to be outside their home between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.  She was taken into custody. 

During a search of the woman’s belongings after arrest, officers seized:

  • 151g of Crystal Methamphetamine

  • 7.6g of Fentanyl

  • Drug paraphernalia

  • Two cell phones

  • Canadian currency

The woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl

  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000

  • Failure to comply with release order

  • Failure to comply with probation order

The accused is also bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sautrday.

Peterborough Police Seeking Suspect Involved at a Local Barbershop Break-and-Enter

The Peterborough Police Service are seeking a suspect who broke into a River Road South barbershop on Nov. 17.

At roughly 1:20 a.m., a male riding a black and silver bicycle attended a barber shop on River Road South and appeared to scope out the building.

He used a tool to pry open the window on the south side door and reached in to unlock the door. Police say he left the area and returned several minutes later, entering through the unlocked door.  

Police believe he took over $3,200 in money, items from the business and memorabilia.

The suspect is described as:

  • White male

  • Between 45 and 65 years old

  • Slim build, grey beard and moustache, shoulder-length unkempt hair

  • Wearing a black winter coat, black toque, black gloves, dark skinny jeans, grey and white sneakers

  • Carrying a dark backpack
