Last year, 138 paddlecraft were jammed into one of the ginormous "tubs" at the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site in Peterborough on Lock n' Paddle day, breaking the previous record of 101.
This year, Lock 'N Paddle upped their game even more, filling both tubs on a beautiful Saturday (June 24th) with more than 150 canoes and kayaks each (to mark Canada's 150 birthday) and lifting them 65 feet.
And once the lock chambers were at an equal elevation, the Lock Master halted the lockage and participants and visitors raised their paddles and sang both O Canada and Happy Birthday in celebration of 150 years of Confederation.

Help Bring Fire Hall Park In Warsaw Back To Life For The Kids
/There is a group of community volunteers in Warsaw who are aiming to raise $10,000 to rejuvenate their Fire Hall Park. The money raised will be added to roughly $16,000 that has already been set aside by Douro Dummer Township for the project. The playground is in disrepair: There is a teeter totter structure that has had the teeter totter boards removed due to safety concerns, and a swing set structure with no swings attached. All that really remains is a toddler swing set and a rusty old slide. To help kick off fundraising efforts, volunteers are having a spaghetti dinner this Saturday, June 7th at the Warsaw arena (upstairs). The dinner runs from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and is $10 per person. You get a plate of pasta, salad, a roll and some apple pie. Go out for a yummy meal, and a great cause—to bring a park back to life for children. Below are pictures of the park in its current sad state... —Heather Watson
